Indian Geography
India is a peninsula(landmass covered by water from all the three sides), situated in southern Asia. It lies in the northern subtropical and tropical region(between the equator and the tropic of cancer )of the earth. It extends about 3200 km from Kashmir in the north to Kanyakumari in the south and about 2900 km from Arunachal Pradesh in the east to Kuchh (Gujarat) in the west. It shares its boundary with seven countries which are China, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. It is guarded against the cold winds from the north by the lofty mountain range "The Himalayas". The water bodies which make it a peninsula are The Bay of Bengal in the east, the Arabian Sea in the west, and the Indian Ocean in the south.
Climate
Indian climate is mainly of monsoon type. But it shows different types of weather conditions according to distance from the sea and relief. The areas near the sea experience a moderate climate throughout the year.
